On October 1, 2017, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history unfolded as Stephen Paddock attacked a Las Vegas concert, claiming 58 lives and injuring 546 before ending his own. More recently, on October 26, 2023, another horrific incident transpired in Maine, where Army reservist Robert Card killed 18 and injured 13 in a bowling alley and bar. After a two-day manhunt, Card was discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.
