A 30-year-old mother of three in Georgia was arrested last week for allegedly killing her infant son.

April Evalyn Short, the wife of a U.S. Army staff sergeant, was charged with one count of murder with an aggravating circumstance of the alleged crime occurring during an act of child abuse.

According to an affidavit, Short sent concerning text messages to her husband referencing God and darkness.

When her husband returned home, he found Short barricaded in the master bedroom with their three children.

Short later left the room with the older children and tried to flee but was stopped by police.

The infant was found in the bathroom with apparent throat wounds and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Short allegedly confessed to the crime during an interview with investigators.

She appeared in court for an initial hearing but has not entered a plea.

A 26-year-old security guard, Solomon Martinez, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 47-year-old woman, Renee Marie Portillos.

Martinez allegedly decapitated Portillos, severed her hand, and kept it in his jacket pocket.

The incident occurred on January 10 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Martinez was apprehended after a witness reported him and led police to Portillos' body.

Martinez was also found with the severed hand in his pocket.

He initially claimed that cuts on his hands were from his dogs, but later changed his story.

Martinez is currently in custody at the Pueblo County Jail with a bond set at $1 million.
