Teresa Black has been acquitted of the murder charges in the case of her 6-year-old son's death.

The DeKalb County jury reached a verdict, finding Black guilty only of concealing her son's death, and not guilty on five other counts, including murder.

The boy's father left the courtroom as the counts were read.

Two jurors spoke to FOX 5 minutes after the verdict, expressing the difficulty of the case and their disappointment with the outcome.

District Attorney Sherry Boston also expressed her disappointment at the verdict, stating that while they respect the jury's decision, they believe Black is responsible for her son's death.

Prosecutors plan to ensure that she serves time for the charges she was convicted of.

The trial lasted for several days, with the prosecution resting its case on Monday and Black's defense team calling only one witness.

Prosecutors presented Black as a negligent mother who failed to provide adequate medical care to her son, leading to his death, while the defense argued that the evidence does not support the allegations against her.

The body of William Hamilton was found in 1999, but his identity remained unknown for over two decades until a facial reconstruction led to a tip and Black's arrest.

In May 1915, Andrew Knutson discovered a gruesome sight when he visited the farm of the Mitmoen brothers in Pope County, Minnesota.

The two oldest brothers, Sven and Johannes, were found dead in the house, while the youngest brother, Amund, was discovered dead in the barn.

All three had been bludgeoned with a stone, and Amund may have also been shot.

The bodies had been undiscovered for several days.

Robbery was believed to be the motive for the murders, as the brothers were wealthy and had a significant amount of money.

Despite an extensive investigation, no real suspects emerged until October, when two men named John Jacobson and George Nelson were charged with the crimes.

However, they were later acquitted due to a strong alibi.

No one else was ever charged for the murders.
