The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) has reported that the body of Mary Margaret Haxby-Jones, an 81-year-old woman, was found stuffed in a freezer in a house on Zion Avenue last month.
Family members who were visiting from out of town made the shocking discovery and immediately notified the police.

Due to the unusual location of the body, the San Diego Police Homicide Unit was called in to investigate.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and is still under investigation by the Medical Examiner's Office.

The police believe that Haxby-Jones may have been missing or dead for up to nine years.

They are urging anyone with relevant information about her or who knew her to come forward.

The investigation also involves examining her financial records to determine any potential motives for not reporting her death earlier.

The 78-year-old suspect accused of the 1972 murder of a teenager in Waikiki has died in custody, according to police officials.

Tudor Chirilla, who was awaiting trial, allegedly stabbed 19-year-old Nancy Anderson more than 60 times.

DNA testing connected him to a blood-stained towel found in Anderson's apartment.

The trial, originally scheduled for February last year, was delayed until this July.

Chirilla, a former Nevada deputy attorney general, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Anderson's family expressed mixed feelings about his death, stating that they are disappointed he did not live to stand trial but also relieved that the case has come to an end.

The cause of Chirilla's death is awaiting autopsy results.
