It has been over six years since a Jane Doe was found along Sulphur Creek Road in Davidson County, Tennessee.

The discovery was made on September 8, 2018, when a couple noticed birds pulling a human skull onto the road.

The remains were in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification difficult.

The Jane Doe, known as "Vandy Jane Doe" due to the Vanderbilt University clothing she was wearing, was estimated to be between 21-35 years old.

Efforts to identify her through genetic genealogy have been ongoing, with the hope of bringing closure to her case.

On January 18, 1970, freshman students Mared Malarik and Karen Ferrell from West Virginia University disappeared after seeing a movie.

Two months later, Mared's purse was found, and their bodies were discovered 88 days after their disappearance.

Eugene Paul Clawson confessed to the murders in 1976, but his conviction was overturned on appeal.

He was retried in 1981 and sentenced to life in prison, maintaining his innocence.

Authors Sarah J. McLaughlin and Geoff Fuller believe Clawson is not the true killer and continue to investigate the case.
