A woman found dead in 1982 was identified over 40 years later thanks to genetic genealogy.

The remains were discovered by a real estate agent in Loxahatchee, Florida, and were of a White woman aged between 24 and 34.

Despite efforts to match DNA in national databases, no leads were found until 2021 when the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office worked with Othram to use advanced DNA testing.

Through forensic genetic genealogy, the woman was identified as Leona Jean Keller, who was 37 when she died.

Othram has helped solve 36 cases in Florida using this method.
