A manhunt in Houston ended with police shooting and killing the suspect, identified as 56-year-old Robert Lee Davis, who was wanted for fatally shooting Deputy Jesus Vargas while trying to serve a warrant.

The shooting occurred in a Dollar General parking lot, and the suspect fled the scene.

Vargas, a 17-year veteran of the force, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire mourned the loss of Deputy Vargas, describing him as a local hero.

The suspect, Davis, was located behind businesses near the original shooting scene and was killed by law enforcement officers.

Florida authorities are searching for a man who robbed an elderly woman outside an Orlando convenience store on Wednesday morning.

The man, identified as Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury, approached the 83-year-old woman as she was leaving the store with her lottery winnings in hand.

In surveillance footage, Fleury can be seen attempting to steal the money from the woman, dragging her in the parking lot in the process.

Another man tried to intervene but was unsuccessful in stopping Fleury.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office has issued an arrest warrant for Fleury on charges of robbery, sudden snatching, and battery on a person over 65.

Fleury has not yet been located.
