A man from Alabama has been found not guilty of the 35-year-old murder of 11-year-old Melissa Ann Tremblay.

The victim went missing after accompanying her mother and her mother’s boyfriend to a Lawrence social club.

The case revolved around DNA evidence found under Tremblay’s fingernails, with the jury ultimately ruling in favor of the defendant.

District Attorney Paul F. Tucker expressed disappointment in the verdict.

Despite initial suspicion of other suspects, Marvin C. McClendon Jr. was arrested in 2022 based on DNA evidence.
