The Virginia Cold Case Database has seen success in its efforts to engage the public and encourage them to visit the site. Since its launch, the database has received almost 52,000 visitors, which is considered a significant accomplishment by Corrine Geller of the Virginia State Police. The number of featured cases has significantly increased from thirty-nine to over three hundred, as more reporting agencies are now involved.
The website intends to keep these cases in the forefront, ensuring that families understand that investigations into these incidents are ongoing and that the authorities are not giving up on solving them. Additionally, the platform provides a means for the public to share any relevant information anonymously, in the hopes that it might contribute to solving these cold cases and leading to arrests.

The Minnesota Supreme Court will hear an appeal from Jerry Westrom, a man convicted of a cold case murder, on Monday. Westrom was sentenced to life in prison last year for the murder of Jeanie Childs, which occurred almost 20 years ago. The conviction was based on DNA evidence collected from a napkin that Westrom had thrown away at a hockey game.
Despite the conviction, Westrom maintains his innocence and claims that his first trial had ineffective legal representation, prosecutorial misconduct, and a lack of evidence. His defense attorney, Steve Meshbesher, expressed confidence in Westrom's eventual exoneration by the Minnesota Supreme Court. However, Childs' mother believes the case is closed and is hopeful for closure.
