A human head was discovered washed ashore at a South Florida beach on Nov. 12, prompting an investigation by Miami-Dade police.

The decapitated head was found behind the Key Colony II Ocean Sound condos in Key Biscayne by a beach worker.

The police have not been able to identify the age or sex of the head.

The cause of the decapitation is still under investigation, with theories being considered.
