Desmond Burks, 34, was arraigned for the murder of Dr. Devon Hoover in Detroit last year.

Charged with multiple offenses including first-degree murder, Burks pleaded not guilty and was remanded to jail.

Hoover, found shot to death in his home's attic in April 2023, had a relationship with Burks.

Evidence from numerous witnesses, search warrants, and video footage led to Burks being charged.

Burks faces additional murder charges from a separate incident.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for August 15, with no connection found between the two cases.

In Moorhead, Minnesota, a woman named Connie Jo Frank allegedly fatally stabbed her ex-boyfriend, Willard DeGroat.

DeGroat was found with a stab wound to the chest and later pronounced dead at Sanford Medical Center.

The incident occurred after an argument between the two escalated into a physical fight.

Frank admitted to retrieving a knife, stabbing DeGroat, and fleeing the scene.

She was arrested and now faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Surveillance video evidence captured the altercation, with Frank shouting at DeGroat.

She remains in Clay County Jail.
