A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of neurosurgeon Devon Hoover in April 2023.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced that 34-year-old Desmond Burks faces charges of first-degree premeditated murder, felony murder, larceny, and firearm possession.

The investigation led across multiple states and countries, with cellphone data placing Hoover and Burks in close proximity before the murder.

Evidence suggests a domestic situation was involved, with several of Hoover's possessions missing post-mortem.

Burks had also been implicated in a separate road rage incident recently.

Detroit authorities are hopeful that a person of interest in custody on unrelated charges may have valuable information regarding Hoover's death.

Hoover was a highly respected neurosurgeon with a successful practice spanning nearly three decades.

A California father, Freddie Trone, has been found guilty of murder, robbery, and conspiracy for instructing his teenage son to rob and kill rapper PnB Rock, who was 30 at the time.

Trone's son, now 19, has been charged with murder but is not competent to stand trial.

Another man, Tremont Jones, was accused of informing Trone about the rapper's presence and luxury items, leading to his involvement in the crime.

Trone denied any connection to the killing but was convicted.

Trone's wife, Shauntel Trone, pleaded no contest to being an accessory after the fact.

Trone and Jones are scheduled to be sentenced in August.
