On March 18, 1984, Katsuhisha Ezaki returned home from work and decided to take a bath. As he prepared for his bath around 9 pm, he had no idea that this seemingly routine act would leave him incredibly vulnerable within moments.

Two people died, and several others were injured after a suspected drunk driver crashed into a group celebrating the Fourth of July in Lower Manhattan.

The incident occurred around 8:55 p.m. on Thursday when a pickup truck drove through an intersection, a stop sign, and into a park where people were gathered.

The truck was traveling at high speed and struck victims on the sidewalk and in the park.

Authorities confirmed two deaths and nine injuries.

Mayor Eric Adams stated the driver was under the influence and emphasized that the incident was not terrorism-related.

Multiple witnesses restrained the driver until first responders arrived on the scene.

An appeals court in Italy upheld the convictions in the murder case of a police officer in 2019.

The two American visitors involved, Finnegan Lee Elder and Gabriele Natale-Hjorth, had their prison sentences reduced.

Elder received 15 years and two months, while Natale-Hjorth received 11 years and four months plus a fine of 800 euros.

The incident occurred when the two met a drug dealer who turned out to be a police informant.

The defense claimed the defendants were unaware of the police presence.

The widow of the victim, Rosa Maria Esilio, was devastated by the verdict.

Prosecutors said Elder attacked the officer with a knife.
