University of Missouri student Riley Strain was found dead in the Cumberland River in West Nashville.

An autopsy revealed he died from drowning and ethanol intoxication, with the manner of death deemed accidental.

Despite initial concerns, no foul play was suspected.

Riley was last seen out with his fraternity brothers in Nashville, but got separated from them.

His body was discovered 14 days after he disappeared.

Donald Ray Lantz, 63, and Jeanne Kay Whitefeather, 62, were arrested in October 2023 in West Virginia for allegedly locking their adopted Black children in a barn on their property and forcing them to work.

They have been charged with human trafficking of a minor child, use of a minor child in forced labor, and child neglect creating substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death.

The couple pleaded not guilty in Kanawha County.

Neighbor reports to Child Protective Services led to the discovery of the children's predicament.

The children were found in deplorable conditions, with no running water and sleeping on the floor.

The case has been highlighted as a human rights violation based on the children's race.

They are currently free on bond, awaiting their next court appearance in September.
