A North Carolina family of five was robbed and attacked last weekend in what a local sheriff is calling an act of "pure torture." Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, a family in Harnett County was assaulted and tied up with duct tape by a group of five men.

The men heated metal objects on a stove and pressed them against the family members' bodies in an attempt to get information about money and guns.

The suspects stole belongings, ransacked the home, assaulted the children, and fled in stolen vehicles.

A GoFundMe has been started to help cover costs for the traumatized family.

An 88-year-old man from Billings, Montana named Steven Whitecloud was sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in two bank robberies within a span of four days.

He pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery in February after the incidents in August.

Whitecloud's co-defendant, Patrick Justice, entered the banks and demanded money from tellers, fleeing in a green Ford Taurus.

Police apprehended both suspects, recovering $15,000 from the robberies.

Whitecloud, who has a history of criminal convictions, suggested the robberies to make money.

He suffers from severe health issues but was still considered a danger to the community.
