Former Philadelphia cop Edsaul Mendoza has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and possession of an instrument of crime in the death of 12-year-old Thomas "TJ" Siderio.

The plea deal led to the dismissal of other charges.

Prosecutors say Mendoza shot Siderio in the back at close range, despite the boy being unarmed and on the ground.

Siderio's family disagrees with the plea deal, calling for a higher standard of accountability for Mendoza.
