A 22-year-old male volleyball coach at a private school in Long Island, N.Y. accused of raping a 15-year-old player, died by suicide after being arrested.

The coach, Jason Maser, allegedly assaulted the student in his car on two occasions.

Following the charges, he stepped in front of a train in his hometown.

Maser had been arraigned and ordered to stay away from the victim.

The school and club team he worked for took swift action to protect students.

Maser faced multiple criminal charges and could have received a significant prison sentence.
